Miba joins ColdMetalFusion Alliance to unite sinter industry & AM for robust manufacturing standards

With its vast experience in industrial manufacturing, close to 1 billion EUR in revenue with 7.400 people in over 30 sites worldwide, Miba Group is a global leader in industrial manufacturing. Miba´s Sinter Division, the global leader for powder metal applications is joining ColdMetalFusion to add its high throughput industrial manufacturing capabilities including its continuous furnace technology to the ColdMetalFusion Alliance. The common goal is establishing the robustness of Metal AM through joint standards that will be followed by existing and future partners joining the alliance later this year.

Vorchdorf, Austria – Miba Sinter Division today announces its move to join the ColdMetalFusion Alliance. With its outstanding capabilities in high throughput sintering, post processing, as well as many years of experience in the automotive industry, Miba is a major player in the sintered metal industry.

The Miba Group's continuous push for new technologies has made it an early adopter of sinter-based additive manufacturing with a dedicated ColdMetalFusion line installed in its innovation center in Vorchdorf. On Site, Miba is offering customers an entry point into ColdMetalFusion technology with joint application development before starting in production of small and medium quantities from 100‘s up to 100,000‘s of parts. Most importantly, the team at Miba has a unique combination of very deep knowledge of sintering processes, powder metallurgy, industrial production, and final part application know-how. The company shares the common passion to elevate sinter-based Metal Additive Manufacturing to a robust and flexible alternative to conventional manufacturing, that meets today's needs for a more flexible, yet efficient and environmentally friendly way of manufacturing.

ColdMetalFusion is an alliance of industry leaders with decades of experience in the fields of sintering, 3D printing and classical industrial manufacturing. Together, the Alliance members provide services, equipment, material, software, and know-how to customers in the metal manufacturing industry. As a ColdMetalFusion ProductionHub, Miba offers full service to its customers from development right through to series production.

“Our know how, global reach and process understanding guarantees a constantly high level of process reliability as we have been one of the backbones of the industry for decades. By setting up a ColdMetalFusion line on site, Miba is implementing its strategy of linking additive manufacturing with its core sinter business. Thanks to these efforts, Miba can now showcase its strengths in different segments incl. automotive, energy generation, energy transmission and storage, as well as energy use in eMobility in line with our new Strategy - MIBA 100” says Dr. Alexander Mueller, Head of R&D Sinter Division.

As “industrialists” with a long history, the members have an exigence of robustness and 24/7 operation of a factory. The ColdMetalFusion Alliance anticipates future success by bringing together various players in the supply chain of this market, seamlessly connecting customers and prospects with trusted suppliers, the Alliance members.

On the Formnext exhibition in November in Frankfurt, Germany, ColdMetalFusion Members will demonstrate the Alliance’s mission of industrialization. Customers can experience ColdMetalFusion at the Alliance‘s booth in hall 11.1, booth D48.
